Beta-Caryophyllene

Aroma
Peppery, spicy, woody
Also found in
Black pepper, cloves, cinnamon
Commonly associated with
Grounded, mellow experiences

Beta-caryophyllene is the spicy, peppery terpene found in black pepper and cloves. It is unusual among terpenes because it can also interact with the body's CB2 receptors, which is why researchers are interested in it. It shows up in many dessert strains like GSC and Gelato.

What it smells like

Peppery, spicy, woody. You'll also find it in Black pepper, cloves, cinnamon.

Boiling point

About 266°F / 130°C. If you use a temperature-controlled vaporizer, terpenes vaporize at different points, which is one reason the same flower can taste different at different settings.

A note on terpenes and effects

Terpene research in cannabis is still young. Aromas are real; claims about specific effects are generalizations. The best guide is your own experience with a strain, starting low.
